Why Choose Hermes Nursery?
The story begins with sourcing great material. We choose our suppliers carefully, visiting growers regularly to inspect their stock, with the majority of our liners arriving from the Pacific Northwest.
We use liner planting practices designed to ensure accurate planting depths and exact spacing for full canopy development. We irrigate with a drip system throughout the 3 to 5 years of the growing process. We plant on berms, which shed water and promote healthy root development. Check out some of our sustainable growing practices.
Pruning—we do it the old-fashioned way—by hand. We use ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards, pruning to the regional needs of our customers. We want strong trunks and branches with beautiful canopies.
Even the most beautiful tree or shrub can be damaged if not harvested properly. We harvest our own trees to ensure the highest possible quality and to make sure our customers receive their product in the best possible condition.
We use only heavy, 10-ounce burlap, and our closed-bottom baskets are built of heavy-gauge wire, machine formed and arc-welded for strength. Heavy, two-ply sisal ties the basket to the trunk. Sisal is the only twine we use. Unlike the cheap nylon-twine alternative, sisal is a natural, bio-degradable product that prevents girdling and trunk scarring.
These growing practices make our product extraordinary instead of just ordinary. Place your order today and discover why our customers have been loyal for so many years.
